Somers Point Dining Guide

Somers Point a good number of eating establishments, but few of them are dedicated restaurants. Many double as bars or nightclubs, so bring your dancing shoes.

Anchorage Tavern
23Bay Ave.
Somers Point, NJ 08244
(609) 926-1794, (609) 926-1776.

Serving lunch and dinner 7 days from 11 am till late night. Menu includes Appe-teasers, soup, salad, sandwiches, burgers, chicken, pizza, and Southwestern. Dinner creations include seafood, beef, poultry, pork, Italian specialties, and more. Meal prices range from $10- $20. Children’s menu available. The Anchorage is one of the more popular nightspots on the mainland. It is noted both for its bar area and for its restaurant. However, the food is good and the dining area is comfortable. The bar area is also nice, complete with top 40 music and pool tables and is usually frequented by an upscale crowd (or at least they think so). During the summer the place transforms into an “anything goes” type of joint, and is a lot more fun. Both young and old go here when it is time to blow off a little steam or enjoy a quick and hearty meal. Major credit cards accepted.

Charlie’s serves “American style” bar-food that could easily be considered a very large entrée. Food varies from big salads to a fantastic cut of prime rib, steak or seafood. Without a doubt, Charlie’s most famous dish is its Tail Tenders (boneless chicken wings), nowhere else will you find better. Charlie’s is a casual bar/restaurant that is steadily frequented both for its food and its hometown-pub-like atmosphere. Meal prices range from $10 - $25, not including the less expensive appetizers and salads. Specials daily. Late night menu till 2:00am seven days a week. Homemade soups and salad dressings. Crab Trap
Somers Point Circle

Somers Point, NJ 08244

(609) 927-7377

Without a doubt Somers Points best restaurant. The Crab Trap is a local favorite year-round, serving fresh seafood, steaks & Italian cuisine in an old time nautical atmosphere. A family owned restaurant for more than two decades, the food and service here are unparalleled. Both young and old eat here, as it is a prime romantic spot for those visiting the mainland. Homemade breads, muffins & desserts are included with outrageous seafood appetizers. There is also a raw bar (seasonal), spirits, and live entertainment -- (for the old folks). Gregory's
900 Shore Rd
Somers Point, NJ
(609) 927-6665
Located just across the 9th Street Bridge from Ocean City, Gregory's has been family-owned and operated since 1946. It was voted best by Atlantic City Magazine for Best Bar Menu, Best Specials, Best Burgers, Best Place to Take a Cheap Date, and Best Munchies. Gregory's is famous for its Taco Tues. & Thurs., which consists of two giant tacos for a dollar (Sept. - June), and its 3 beers for $1 special, which takes place every Wednesday, all night! The restaurant and bar, which is open seven days a week 11 a.m. until 2 a.m. serving lunch, dinner, munchies and cocktails, has a smoke-free dining room separate from the main bar- both rooms are air-conditioned during the summer months. Most meals range in price from $10 - $20. Gregory’s most famous dish, aside from the Taco Tuesday extravaganza, is difficult to pin down, as a variety of unique specials change quite often. Gregory’s is an interesting cross between a better-than-average restaurant and a happening party spot. This is a popular spot for locals and during the summer it becomes a zoo, as many visitors are aware of the fantastic beer specials. During the evenings it makes for a good restaurant/lounge type of atmosphere, until around 10 p.m. or so when it transforms into a party station. It is dark, narrow and fun in here.

Mac's Restaurant
908 Shore Rd.

Somers Point, NJ 08244

(609) 927-2759.

Owned and operated by the Preveti family.

Menu includes a small selection of appetizers, seafood, meat, Italian, and pasta entrees. Mac’s has a so-so surf & turf entrée and is a not-so-popular  establishment among locals. It is located one block south from Gregory’s, which is one block south from Charlie’s (all located on Shore Road); these are all within the vicinity of the Anchorage and the Crab Trap as well, providing for a wide variety of restaurants to choose from as they all specialize in different areas. However, Mac’s is not a difficult place to pass up once you’ve seen the menu. Meal prices average between $15 and $20. Dinner 7 days a week, from 3:30pm--. Reservations accepted. Cocktails available. All major credit cards accepted.
