Margate New Jersey
Margate City, a popular residential resort, is home to Lucy The Elephant, a National Historic Landmark. Margate is nestled tightly between Ventnor and Longport, and with it's proximity to Somers Point and Atlantic City, it's only minutes from the swingin' nightlife and glittering lights. Within Margate, you'll find beautiful beaches, ample lodging, friendly people, and lots to do. There's a wide assortment of cuisines available, as well as some local nightclubs to fill your evenings. During the day, go for a surf in the ocean or take a tour to see Lucy, the three story elephant.
Lucy sits on Decatur and Atlantic Avenues. This world-famous elephant was originally a hotel. The 65 foot elephant is now a unique and simple tourist attraction. Admission is $3, $1 children. In the off-season, she's open on Saturday and Sunday, and she has more hours in the summer. Call 823-6473 for more information.
Ocean City New Jersey
America's Greatest Family Resort? Well, it's a nice place to visit anyway. Ocean City is definitely a Family Resort, it's not the place to stay if you're a person looking for a wild time or to hang out in a bar. Ocean City's law prohibiting the sale of alcohol makes it a hit with younger families. It is a clean, safe town, with a varied assortment of activities and a long, beautiful beach for relaxing. Although it is a resort town, the locals host some activities in the off-season, giving the place a sense of life missing in some of the other barrier islands.
The only element missing from Ocean City is a nightlife. Aside from the walking boards, there is little to do in the evenings. However, Somers Point and AC are within minutes of the small town, providing an older crowd with more options. Take a look around and see what OC has for you.
